AREA REVENUE PROTECTION
Area Revenue Protection (ARP) crop insurance is part of Area Risk Protection Insurance (ARPI), which replaces the Group Risk Plan (GRP) and Group Risk Income Protection (GRIP). This plan of insurance is based on what happens in the county, rather than individual farms. Coverage is provided against a revenue loss, due to a county level production loss, price decline, or a combination of both.
Upside harvest price protection is included, which increases the policy protection in the event that the harvest price is greater than the spring price. You can choose coverage levels from 70% to 90%, and also a “protection factor” between 0.8 and 1.2, which is used to calculate the dollar amount of guarantee.
Unlike GRIP, ARP requires production reporting at the end of the year.
